I've been meaning to tell you about that trip to Mexico...

In late May of 2014, just days after our Spring Senior show at CCA, I threw my entire collection from that show in a suitcase as our family headed for Ixtapa.

I had never been so tired in my life. With no sleep and never enough hours in a day to do everything that needed to be done, the last few months leading up to the show were so strenuous. I can see the exhaustion still in my face but also the relief. And I was really looking forward to taking my collection for a test drive.

Those styles were conceived in Mexico a year earlier when I started thinking about what I wanted to wear right then and there. Being with my loved ones in a beautiful, tropical place, I wanted "pretty", but also needed "comfortable" in the heat and humidity, and ideally, "hand washable" as well. This particular slip dress I'm wearing here is made of a double layer bias-cut silk chiffon, and it's so lightweight, cozy, and airy -- any breeze goes right through to the skin and cools you off like nothing else. That's ticking all the boxes in my book.

This is fashion though, and I feel a little squirmy about highlighting a collection I designed a few years ago. At the same time, transcending trends and creating pieces that I want to enjoy for years to come has always been one of my highest priorities. This original collection has truly stood the test of time. Everywhere you can think off I've worn those dresses. I'm making them even better and adding new ones, and I'm so excited to bring the first one to you in a crowdfunding campaign that is now scheduled to be launched Black Friday of this year.

You will soon hear all about it...
